Eric Tannahill
My name is Eric Tannahill. I grew up in Cathcart, spent half of my life there and the rest of it in Newton Mearns. I was a Motor Mechanic and then spent 35 years as a taxi driver in Glasgow. After being retired for 6 months, I decided it was time to give my wife of 44 years some peace and get a part time job. I have three daughters and six grandchildren and with any time left, I enjoy walking, cycling, DIY and cooking.

I was born in Govanhill and from there we relocated to the new “Hillpark”, ours being one of the first families to move into the flats there.
I am a butcher to trade and worked in this capacity for over 20 years before moving into the building industry for 10 years. Following this, I enjoyed working in the “Funlodge” at Merrylea and this led me onto changing roles and becoming one of the caretakers here at Merrylea Parish Church.
I have been married for 37 years, have 3 sons and enjoy time with my twin grand-daughters, Freya and Sophie. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf.
